Default Boot OS from USB flash drive? - 04-18-2009, 07:28 PM

Would it be possible to install, and boot OS X/XP/Vista/Windows 7 from a high speed USB flash drive. I end up collecting the things like spare change and have 2x 8GB, 1x 16GB, and 2x 32GB 200x speed flash drives kicking around. I thought that it might be an alternative to multibooting. Install the OS/Drivers/Apps/etc on a USB drive and then plug it in and boot from it when you want that OS. Anyone?

Linux won't mind being installed on a flash drive. Don't know about the others.

I have OSX installed on a 16gb USB Stick. It runs well.

OSX will install to a USB stick the same way it would a Hard Drive or SSD. All you need is an external dvd drive, a retail copy of OSX and the DellEFI ISO.

Windows XP Professional and Ubuntu 8.10 all work with the USB drive.
