Default Trim Software for SSD Hardrives - 04-14-2009, 03:27 PM

Hi all,
I read an extensive report on CNET about the problems with SSD hard drives. They don't do well with memory defrags and so your HD will get slower with time. He said a software called TRIM fixed this problem. Anyone aware of this? Have any comments to share about it? Know if there is a program out there to download?

TRIM is a command which needs to be integrated into an OS, not necessarily standalone software. Windows 7 is rumored to have the TRIM command included but other previous OSs do not. Also, most SSDs do not support the command anyways and the manufacturers will probably need to update the firmware to support it.

Here's a great (long) article which covers a lot of useful ground in discussing SSDs: ... i=3531&p=1
