Re: Runcore SSD Install Problem - 04-13-2009, 10:27 AM
Good Luck, It took me 5 attempts at cloning before my Runcore was recognized. I finally got success with Acronis True Image ( I tried Drive Image on the 3-4 attempt ). The first 2 attempts it was not recognized and would not boot past the BIOS screen. The next 2 it would only boot to the welcome screen in XP. The USB was fine and the drive had everything on it and I could copy to it, just would not boot when installed in the computer as the 0 drive.
It was a pain in the butt taking the drive in and out that many times. The drive has worked fine since.
I still ask myself, Was it a problem with the clone, was with the drive, was it a contact problem with the connector ?? A old trick is to use a pencil eraser on the contacts of the card.
Here is something on your error. Is this the " Chicken or the Egg " ?? If it can't find the boot sector on drive 0, by design it looks elsewhere. So the error might be correct, but not the cause, because of a " unrecognized drive ".
""PXE (pronounced pixie)stands for pre-execution boot environment and, is used to install an OS in a domain based setup. This allows a Hard drive image to be copied over a network to the local hard drive.
If you cannot get past this after the timeout you need to disable PXE boot in the bios or move down in the boot order. This will wither be under the advanced settings for the network card or, under the system settings for boot priority. ""

Re: Runcore SSD Install Problem - 04-13-2009, 05:26 PM
I have a RUNCORE 64GB PATA MINI PCI-e and upon install my Dell Mini does not recognize it either. I then installed the new bios and performed many measures to find out this is a hardware based problem. As you can see below on my picture I lined up the pins on the PCI-e cards from my STEC 8 gb SDD (which it recognizes fine) and the boards do not align when the pins are (you can see the slight 'overhang' in the picture below). Moreover it beeps if I plug it into another computer with PCI-e (similar if you were to put the wrong ram into a computer). I am not sure if this is a common ailment. It works find when I plug it into usb. But it will not make a connection with the PCI-e connection. Has anyone else seen this problem? (maybe the above posters?) I sent and email to MDD for the possibility of an RMA.
