JMicron Installation Failed on nLite XP - 04-05-2009, 08:54 PM
I nLited XP by following the eeepc guide mentioned in this forum. I removed all drivers and re-installed Dell drivers after the XP install. Everything went fine except the card reader driver. I downloaded the most recent drivers from the www.jmicron.com.tw after failing to install the one on Dell website. I tried the following two approach:
1. Use the "Setup.exe" in the driver package. It will launch the application and it will say "Installation Fail" at the end and ask me to close the application.
2. "Update driver" from "Properties" and point Windows to the x32 "drivers" folder. It will say "An error occur while loading the JMicron driver, the information needed is not in the INI file"
Right now my system is using the default SD card driver and it cannot read my 8gb SDHC card. So if I pop the SDHC card in, there will be an unknown device called "SD Memory Card". If I don't pop in the 8gb card, the device manager will find nothing wrong. I am pretty sure the SD card and reader work b/c I installed ubuntu on the same machine before moving to XP and it worked.
I also tried "uninstall drivers" but nothing works. Could it be something I've removed during the nLite process? I see someone posted the installed device manager screen and SD card reader belongs to "PCMCA and Flash Memory Card Reader". I think I might have removed the PCMCA from the XP by following the guide. Any suggestions or advises?
