Default Dell ubuntu to 8.10 - 04-02-2009, 12:48 AM

Hi, I wanted to see if someone could kindly point me in the right direction. I want to upgrade from the Dell version and install the Official ubuntu 8.10 via usb/unetbootin. I know what to do as far as prepping the USB drive, but was wondering if I need to reformat the Mini drive before I start the installation process? Or can I just plug it in a go. Maybe overwrite the version that already on it? ant advice would be appreciated.

The installer will overwrite the existing install and format the partitions appropriately. You might want to choose Manual Partitioning and choose not to use a swap partition (like the original Dell install); it is up to you, but many people feel this will prolong the lifespan of the drive.
