The Mini 9 will not boot from the normal SDHC slot. If you add an internal USB SD reader, it will boot from that. Windows does not like to install to or run from a removable device.

Do you have the WWAN socket in your Mini?

Yes, I just remove modem (5530) becouse I dont need gsm. I know I cannot bot from SDHC slot - I mean PCIe adapter. Can I boot full functionally (with sleep etc.) OSX from usb?

Sorry for the bump.

I have a question about what standoffs you guys ended up using. Where did you get them? Would Dell have any to give me if I gave them a call?

I have the Broadcom HD Decoder installed where my WiFi card once was. I found a USB/mPCI-e WiFi card that would work in the WWAN slot. I'm gonna go ahead and solder a mPCI-E port and order the card, but I have no idea where to get the standoffs. I'd rather leave the two stand offs that I already have for the HD Decoder where they are.

Here's the WiFi card that I'm going to use (if it helps):
QCOM miniPCI-E WIFI card / USB

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you're going to go that far to mod the thing then keep modding and fabricate a standoff or use double-sided tape or salvage a standoff from a broken laptop.

-a screw and a few properly spaced nuts make excellent standoffs as well!
