O.K.
I'm like a dog with a bone... I've been working on this all night... I finally got it... Works like a charm... I kept looking at the log to see if I was missing something and sure enough it finally popped out at me (after a couple of hours!!)... Sleepwatcher didn't like the name of my drive and was saying the drive/folder was not found... Fixed the name and bingo!!
Thanks everyone for your help...

For me, Win7 and OSX automatically installed the Ricoh R5U880 drivers etc. Not sure how other OS will react to the card...
If I hadn't already ordered my Vostro A90, I might have been tempted to pick up a "Previously Ordered New" Mini 9 from the Outlet store - one configured with WWAN (two available there this morning, as a matter of fact) to do this!

What a cool way to add more storage to the Mini 9!

Out of curiosity what was the name that caused trouble for you? I'll double check my script and fix it so that nobody else will have troubles. (Thought I took care of any odd characters in what I have there now.)

There are no multiple drive issues at all.

In Win7, the OS sees both SDHC, mounts each with no issues, and will not complain (i.e. it unmounts correctly/automatically) both during sleep/hibernation and then remounts on startup.

OSX, however, does not like any USB drive ... and the MR04/SDHC hack is essentially an internal USB drive (SDHC). So, the common issue with OSX is that when it sleeps, and then wakes up, it did not unmount the USB properly and then complains with a warning window upon restart. The fix is to use Sleepwatcher and the customized script from bsoplinger1. Works perfectly (though I did small mod to the /volumes/xxx part of the script etc -> read above for more instructions).

XP likely works similar to Win7 and no issues.

Only one user here has claimed to use Ubuntu and I'm unsure of any issues or not.

Yeh, thanks to LGSilva for initially finding the MR04 card ... and all others for their help in making it all work ...

For your A90, if you had a soldering iron (and the parts), you could add do the mod as well. Sooner or later, you'll need more storage, trust me on this ... hahaha ... lots of options open to us as the DM9 is so easy to upgrade.

bsoplinger1,
It was not anything crazy... It was a two word name 'Extra Progs'... I guess it didnt like spaces in the name?? Only thing I can think of, I changed to a one word name and it worked...

Not to be pedantic, but did you use single ' or double " quotes when you did the Vol= line?

Vol='/Volumes/Extra Progs' <- single quotes
Vol="/VolumesExtra Progs" <- double quotes
Vol=/Volumes/Extra Progs <- no quotes

no... just single quotes... It was really strange... My runcore has a two word name...
Maybe there was some other typo that I corrected at the same time not realizing it...

I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed. I've soldered in a usb sd reader. It mounts as a usb drive just fine. I haven't had any issues with it.

Hi, I think that is what I am going to do.

Use the WWAN space to wire in a USB SD card slot thing. I have some 8gb Class 6 HDSC cards and will use one of them.

I think I can change something on win 7 to state to the system that it is a fixed disk, and then I will install some applications to that (Assume D: drive).

I assume it won't be a drain on the battery and will be all ok.
