So the maximum I can upgrade to is upto 64gb with 2gb RAM for my dell mini 9?

You can get up to 128GB now if your Mini 9 does not have a WWAN (cellular network) card installed.

Open the panel on the bottom of your Mini and look at the space below the SSD. If you see a big blank space with WWAN stenciled on the motherboard, then you can use the T-style SSD. If there is a card there (you will then see four cards, SSD, WWAN, WLAN and memory), then you can't. In almost all cases, the spot is empty unless you ordered the Mini with the WWAN option.

Maximum RAM is 2GB in one DIMM, PC2-4200 or better.

So I have a Dell Mini 9. My SSD is messed up and Im looking to replace it. I know i have to be very specific with the SSD that il use. My question is what SSD do you recommend and where exactly can I find it?? Ive been searching but i dont know where to buy it. Any information would be helpful because ive been trying to replace my SSD for a couple of months now. Thanx in advance for any info.

You have to get one that is designed explicitly for the Dell Mini 9. If it doesn't say it's for the Mini 9, it won't work. The most popular ones are from RunCore and SuperTalent (for SuperTalent, make sure that the model ends with "GFDL").

thanx alot holmes4. i have found the SSD and am ordering it soon. Another question. I think windows 7 is great although i dont mind windows xp. Would you recommend xp or 7. Which do you think will run more smoothly?

Holmes4 - Do you have a rationale why the heat pads are not necessary for the RunCore? It's running at a faster speed and I believe it's discharging the battery faster. Heat buildup is the enemy of electronics and it's not getting dissipated through the keyboard without those pads. Thanks

The pads would not dissipate heat through the keyboard - they're nowhere near the keyboard and facing the wrong way. On the STEC the pad serves as a heat spreader, but I see little evidence that this provides any benefit - and it may actually be harmful as those pads are not perfect conductors and that would cause heat to build up in the chips. With bare chips, you at least get air in contact with the chips.

Just because the transfer rate of the RunCore is faster, that doesn't mean that more power is being consumed. The chip and controller technology are different.
