Default 3rd antenna mod question - 02-28-2009, 04:30 AM

Hello fellow dell mini 9 owners,

Basically I bought a intel 5300 chip and I installed it in my dell mini 9 and it works but I wanted to do the 3rd antenna mod just for fun . I was looking at a post about the 3rd antenna mod and I'm wondering how they attached it to the aluminum film on the back.

download/file.php?id=224&mode=view

I'm 99% sure that he soldered it but I have no clue how to do this. Do I just use a soldering pen and just melt it on? :?: Thanks in advance for helping

You don't want to have the antenna on top of the metal film or behind the display, it will block the signal. There is room just to the left of the left-hand stock antenna for the third. It's ok if the adhesive part of the antenna is on the metal film, but the actual antenna part (with the loops of circuit traces) needs to be up where it is plastic only.
