Default Mini 9 running off of External USB drive (to test Mac OS)? - 02-27-2009, 03:11 PM

I have been trying to think of a good way to 'test' the mac osX software on the mini. I currently have a 16gb ssd from dell that has a dual boot XP / Ubuntu 8.10 on it. I like the setup. I have a spare full size laptop drive that I could plug into a USB enclosure & plug it into the mini 9.

I would remove the 16gb ssd for the duration of the testing. I know it would be ugly, but would it work properly?

You might want to post the OS X questions in the OS X forum, faster replies.

But yes, what you want to do will work. You can even leave your SSD in and install on your USB HD. That's how I'm running OS X right now, since I only have a 8GB SSD. To make things easier, change the boot order in the BIOS, boot from USB before the HD. Worked great for me.
