Default Dell Mini 9 doesn't pass POST, fixable? - 08-31-2015, 08:14 AM

After some months without use, when powered on, only the power led turns on and if left for a while, it heats up. I did not touch the bios and do not recall dropping the dell mini 9 anywhere. Removing Ram and turning on doesn't result in any beeps. Is there a solution?

Do you see anything on the screen? Dell logo? Does the screen backlight come on? (Easier to see in a darkened room.)

Default removing bios update on a DELL Inspiron Mini 910 - 10-27-2015, 02:49 AM

I am new at this so i hope i get it right
I have a Dell Inspiron 9 series 910 that i put Bios A07 on it thinking it would help detect the DVD USB drive which it did but now messed up my battery charging
it now runs but flashes white and then orange and don't charge the battery anymore.
I heard you can remove the BIOS update and it will fix it only thing unable to find out how to do that , also heard if you install a older version A00 that will over write the new bios and make it return to the A00 version but when i try that says it can not do that so it process will stop hit any key to exit so my question how do you remove the update?

Thank you
Todd

All you can do is install the older BIOS. Newer ones may refuse to charge third-party batteries.

What you need is the program described in the first set of links at Dell I910 Mini/Vostro A90 USB Key Drive flashBIOS Utility

The DVD issue may be insufficient power. See if your drive can be powered separately (not from a USB port on the Mini 9.)

Sorry, Todd, I can see the text of the PM you sent me, but due to a site error I can't reply. I agree that there is no battery calibration. From what I recall, BIOSes A00 and A01 didn't complain about third-party batteries.

Remove the battery and reboot. The battery is probably dead and is blocking the boot sequence. A working battery or a new one should cure the problem.
