Default Re: Internal Logitech Nano Receiver Modification - 03-19-2009, 03:28 PM

Thanks! While I don't use the receiver in there any more and I've re-oriented the connector, my 16GB flash drive has been living in there very happily for months now.

The WWAN connector has that extra USB port on pins 36 and 38, although I forget which does what at the moment.
(It's been a few months)
I Googled the pinout for which pads to use.

Lots have folks have done similar modifications so there's a ton of info out there now concerning the connections and where to get power more easily for the USB port.

Very cool mod. This might be just what I've been looking for.

I had a couple of questions though;

Have you noticed any degradation of battery life, having the 16GB USB stick in at all times?
Do you keep your 16GB SDHC mounted at all times? If so, any further degradation of battery life?

Thanks, and good work!

I tried hooking my Nano receiver up to my internal connection using the Webcam cable, and gets a "unknown device" error in XP, but my old 1 gig flash drive works fine. Think its the 3.3v connection on the webcam?

I would like to see someone put a thumbdrive internaly with this mod. Could get a decent amount of extra internal storage; plus you can boot from thumb drives.

It's been done. Technique is exactly the same.

Nice project, hope to do my own,
Could you not tap into the power going to a usb plug to power the internal usb ?

Not that simple - the power is usually switched on and off by the USB controller based on what the data pins are doing.
