Question Compact Flash HDD? - 01-04-2013, 03:35 PM

Hey there!

I have 2 quick and simple questions.

1.) Is it possible to use a Mini PCI-e Compact Flash Adapter instead of the included 16GB SSD?

2.) If its not possible, would anyone care to explain why? Thanks

This model i have doesnt have the WWAN connector so i believe there will be enough space.

It is not possible because the SSD connector is just MiniPCIe in form only - electrically it is custom and not MiniPCIe. Such adapters as you show undoubtedly rely on the USB pins in a standard MiniPCIe connector.

It's pretty obvious in the image you show that it is using the few USB pins and not the PATA wiring Dell uses.
