Default New Battery On The Way - MDD - 09-26-2011, 10:41 PM

I finally gave in & ordered a new battery from Better-Power 5200 mAh Replacement Battery for Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and Vostro A90 Netbooks | My Digital Discount $55 vs. $25 from ebay or $100+ from Dell. I just didn't want to take a chance of getting junk.

I also made sure to click on MDD's link here on our forum to place the order

I hope you have better luck than I did. It worked great until just after the warranty expired when all the lights suddenly started blinking and the computer failed to recognize the battery. I contacted MDD and they kindly offered to sell me another. I declined and am back to using the OEM battery.

Oh my, that does not sound good. the original battery has lasted 2 ½ years. I only lasts about 25 minutes now on a full charge. I've had good luck (knocks on wood) so far. At $100 it just wouldn't be worth fixing when I could be getting a new laptop. There are some really good prices on small laptops. After my Mini 9, I sure don't want a big one.

My battery is down to 10% so I am off to plug it in

Well I hope it works for you. I bought an 8 cell replacement and it won't charge. The 'disco' lights came on as soon as I powered it on and as far as I can see the recommendation is to use firmware A04. Err I'm already on it!
Can you post back to let others know if it works pls?
Cheers

Will do. It shipped Monday so maybe I'll have it Wednesday or Thursday.

I received my new battery from MDD today via USPS in a priority flat rate envelope which was open. I was lucky it was still in there. Those envelopes are not for a boxed battery 2 ¼ inches thick so the seal didn't hold.

It came 79% charged & charged up to 100% without a problem. My Mini 9 has BIOS version 04.
The Dell battery weighs 7 ¾ oz. or 218 grams.
MDD battery weighs 15 ½ oz. or 440 grams.

MDD does have a larger battery than this one.

I'll test it over the next few days & see how long the charge lasts.

Nice one! in that case i think i'll be ordering one too.
I have the home setup complete but as the original battery is totally dead, i need a replacement to be able to take it on the commute to the office.
That postal bag sounds a bit dodgy though
Cheers for posting back after you got it.

I got 6 ½ hours today & it still had a 17% charge left. I am having a hard time leaving it on until it shuts down. If I was smart, I would have turned it on just before I went to bed checking the shutdown time in the morning

I'll try it again when I get back home next week.
