Default RunCOre 64 availability - 01-16-2009, 12:56 PM

I look at the banner ad here and it lists the 64gb RunCore at $219.99. I click it and says its out of stock.

I then resort to ebay and find MyDigitalDiscount selling them for $199.99 and they claim to have more than 10 instock...

Anyone know what gives?

If I order off ebay am I going to get an email from the seller claiming they are out of stock?

Just asking here because I noticed alot here have upgraded to RunCores. Whats been your experience with the company?

My mini is due to arrive 1/26 and I would REALLY like to drop a new RunCore 64 in it along with the 2gb memory that arrives next week.

I am in a similar situation and have this same question.

eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/RUNCORE-64GB-MIN...3A1%7C294%3A50

This does not explicitly state it is compatible with the Dell Mini 9, it says the EEE PC 9xx 100x. The interface is still PCI-e, is this really still the same thing? Anyone know?

I think I just found my own answer. I don't think they're compatible, so the $199.99 one listed would not work because its width is .70 while the Dell Mini 9 model is .50

The SSDs for the Eee are NOT compatible with the Dell Mini 9. Not only are they too long but they use a different drive protocol (SATA vs. IDE).

MyDigitalDiscount seems to be getting regular shipments of the RunCore drives lately, I imagine if you were to order it would ship within a week. The first batch got held up because it was a dud, and then customs wanted to babysit them for awhile so many of us waited about a month for the first shipment. Since that time, they seem to be fulfilling orders in a timely manner, nobody has complained about it in almost 2 weeks now. The RunCore factory should (in theory) be sending out batches on a regular schedule so MDD should get new shipments regularly.
You could always call and ask, they do tend to answer their phones.

Thanks Una & Others.

I have called a couple times to no avail, but will continue. I did some more forum searching here and noticed some comments about the ebay ad and delays.

Back to the phone!

Got a live person!

Had a great conversation about the drives and the previous issues with backorders with their rep. Their next shipment is due in next Wednesday. My Mini due in the following Monday, so with overnight shipping all the pieces should come together nicely

Oh, he did point out that the Ebay ad was NOT for the Dell, guess I need to read a bit closer

Thanks!

Yeah, you definitely don't want to order the Eee's drive, it's too big to fit onto a Mini9.. I made that mistake with my first order from them. Ooops!

Do watch out for MDD. I bought off ebay 3 weeks ago, when the listing stated more than 10 in stock, still no 64 SSD. First email ignored, second told me would be in later that week (2 weeks ago) 3rd email no response, last email said it would be sent out weds or thu. Its fri and still not sent out, and still none in stock.

Looking about it seems you probably get a drive in the end, but as not without quite a wait, and quite a few tall stories about "stock" to help you along.

Maybe the original advert saying expect delays rather than in stock ready to post would have been better. Their ebay feedback is taking a hit from reading recent posts.

So looks like expect to wait at least 4 weeks for "in stock" ssd's from them on ebay, and email is hit and miss.
