Default Display broken + SSD upgrade - 01-18-2011, 08:43 AM

Hello everyone!

I´m new here and have a problem with my Mini 9: I´ve broken the display and couldn´t get any useable help from the Dell support (as the Mini 9 is rather old and they preferred explaining me how much better it would be buying a new Mini 10) so could you provide me information where I can find a replacement display?

And when I´m thinking of replacing the display by myself I thought it could be a good idea to make an SSD upgrade at the same time (from 16GB to 32GB) and found this one:

SuperTalent FEM32GFDL Solid State Drive (SSD) 32GB (4,5 cm (1,8 Zoll), Half miniPCIe2 MLC

would this SSD work with my Mini 9?

I´d be very happy for any help! Thanks a lot in advance

take care

Yes, that SSD will work. There are various threads here where people have purchased replacement displays from eBay and the like.

I dunno where you live, but a refurbed Mini 1012 might be a better choice that spending big bucks on your Mini 9. In the US, you can get 'em for $200 with a coupon. $250 can get you a well-equipped one.

Thank you for your answers! Changing my Mini 9 to a Mini 10 is not really an option for me because as a private pilot I´m using the Mini 9 during my flights and there size, weight and SSD are good arguments to keep the Mini 9.

I´m living in Austria / Europe so I´ll have a look at ebay! Thanks for your hints. And thank you for all the great tutorials here! Otherwise I wouldn´t have a clue how to change those components and I´m really thinking of installing MacOS-X on my Mini 9.

If you have any other / more information I´d be really happy for every hint / warning!

Thanks a lot!

take care
