Default What to do upon starting up Mini for first time - 10-14-2008, 12:49 AM

hey I have had constant issues with my current Mini and Dell is sending me a new one. what should I do this time to maximize the speed of the machine. I have a 2gb stick to put in eventually. When do you uncompress the drive? Also, what programs should I get rid of that come from Dell as trial software? Anything else? This is going to be a fresh start up out of the box

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Consider nLite or formatting and reinstalling...

use revo to uninstall everything you dont want (i suggest EVERYTHING except the OS)

then do all the usual XP performance tweaks to services etc

then install all your fav goodies - heres what i put on mine

* MS Office 2007
* Firefox + extensions
* Artweaver (because Photoshop would kill it)
* CCleaner
* 7-zip
* VLC
* Winamp
* XNView
* Sumatra PDF (compact version of Acrobat)
* PDF Creator
* Clamwin
* Filezilla
* Notepad++
* Pidgin
