Default Question about the BCM70015 Crystal HD - 08-24-2010, 05:41 AM

I just need a confirmation to keep my mind at ease about this awesome piece of technology.

Will the Broadcom Hardware Decoder BCM970015 (Logic Supply - Leaders in Mini-ITX & Small Form Factor Solutions) fit in my Dell Mini 9? I see alot of talk on the forums about the BCM970012, but it doesnt look like Logic Supply carries it anymore.

I understand I have to sacrifice my WiFi card, which is fine because my work doesn't have wifi.

My idea is to purchase a USB hard drive to store all the video files and run them off it. I assume the BCM970015 will work the same as advertised despite the files not being locally stored on the internal SSD. Am I correct in assuming this?

Thanks in advance.

I can confirm the 15 version will fit and works as advertised (yes it is half sized, but by default comes on an adapter so you can screw it down in your wifi slot).

Just posting here as an update.

Got my BCM70015 Crystal HD in my DM9 with little issue. Taking the screws off the wifi card was the hardest part! It's working as advertised and my DM9 is now my portable media player.

Now all i need to do is install another mini PCI-E port so i can get wifi back!

You won't be able to add another MiniPCIe port. You can use a USB WiFi adapter.

looks like a nice card!

i'm not too keen on sacrificing my wifi and 3g connectivity however.

Does anyone know of a card that would provide both Wifi and 3g (with sim slot) connectivity (i seem to remember seeing one a year or so ago) that would run in the WWAN slot

Or even a WiFi card that would run in the WWAN slot?

I'm pretty sure this would work:

The WWAN slot is wired for USB only. If you have a WLAN card that uses the USB pins, it would work.
