Default Shoot! Can't get the wires throught the hinges! - 07-23-2010, 04:03 PM

I was replacing the lid on my vostro A90 with this guide, and it lookked like I could start putting it back together. I put the LCD in the new lid, screwed it in, added and attached the webcam, but then I had a problem or two. On the left hinge, there is one fat flack cable. On the right, I have two sets of the cables, which came attached to the lid, in addition to he speaker cable.
The problem: I have no idea how to route the cable through the hinges so that the bezel can span on to the lid.

This link goes to pics of the cables, and how the bezel does not close because the wires are blocking them.

You are running the wires out the wrong side of the hinge. Here's a photo of how it should look.

I can't make out exactly which wires go where in the photo, do you have a clearer picture?
Also, I have two white and two black wires coming from the right side, and I think that 2 of those are for WWAN. Which are which?

I managed to find a hi-rez picture of the left hinge, so I have the cables routed correctly through the left hinge, then I sort of figured it out on the right hinge, but it is a tight squeeze because there are 3 cables:
Speaker cable, and 2 for the WiFi.
It still works, so my only problem is finding out which cables are for the WWAN which I don't have, and which cables are for WiFi.

That picture is taken from the Mini 9 disassembly thread.

You may find this of interest/use.

Now I have everything assembled, with the black cables in use for the functioning wifi and the white one hanging out the bezel. I'm assuming I can just open it up again and clip the cables, amirite?

Clip the cable? I would expect a black and white cable for the WiFi antennas - do you have a third one?

If nothing else, just fold the unused wire back inside the lid - don't clip it.
