Default Bluetooth software - 07-22-2010, 08:17 AM

So I searched here and there are a lot of people saying all you need to do to get the BT module (bought on ebay several months ago) is to install the hacked drivers. I did and the module is listed in the device manager as working. (XP)

But I see no way to actually use BT. Theres no software installed, just the dirvers, so there is no way to pair anything. My other computer uses BlueSolei and I use it to tether to my cell. I want to be able to tether the mini9 but see no way to do it. I can't even create a new network connection. The only connections I have are the ethernet and wifi. No BT PAN.

Any ideas? What am I missing here?

Thanks,
mike

When the BT drivers are installed, they should also provide the "software stack". Look in Control Panel for Bluetooth.

I don't have a BT control panel.. guess thats part of the problem. The page with all the drivers on it has several links but they all seem to be drivers.

XP starting with SP2 provides the BT "Software Stack", but if you didn't have a BT device when you did your XP install it may have left it out. I am not sure how to add it - it doesn't seem to be something you can download. Have you looked at Dell's Mini 9 page?

Default BT software and drivers - 08-18-2010, 09:44 PM

As with the original poster, i bought a aftermarket USB BT (modem?) and connected it to my mini-9. it installed a few drivers and provided a somewhat useable interface. However i then installed the Bluesoliel software/drivers and at first i was amazed at its flexability but then i quickly learned it was crap and not even able to update it because the company had folded several months before my actual purchase. Is there another driver/software package to allow PAN, file x-fer and accessability? I also installed MS Active sync to be able to utilize my phone as a external modem when at home. MS7 users have to use the next generation available for free from MS site. So to restate the question Is there a software/driver package from dell or microsoft that will allow these activities?

Mini-9
STEC 8 gig SSD
RAM 2Gig 800Mhz.
WWAN parts in place
Fresh install of XP from OEM cd w/SP3
Gigabyte b,g & n WiFi card with drivers
Sony DVD ROM/CD burner in slimline external case
Planned upgrades; 64-128Gig Runcore, Bt, Black lid with WWAN antennas
