Default Runcore SSD mini-PCI 70mm not recognised in Dell Mini 9 - 03-26-2010, 12:59 PM

Hi guys I have just received my Runcore SSD 64GB 70mm today, here is the link of it

http://www.solidstatecentral.com.au/...roducts_id=236

I put it in the Dell Mini 9 however it not recognized the SSD (though it is recognized by via USB)

Anyone experienced this problem?

Thank a lot =)

It appears the SSD drive (intended for a Asus eee) uses a SATA interface with a Mini PCIe connector. The Mini 9 expects a SSD using a PATA/IDE interface with a Mini PCIe connector.

If I'm right about the drive being SATA, you'll never get it working.

What Reflex said. That is the wrong drive model for a Mini 9.

Hmm that's bad news then, I didn't carefully notice about the SATA/PATA thing, and actually I cannot find any 70mm PATA ssd around as well...

Also, the Mini 9 wants a 50mm card.

Yah but because the 70mm one usually got the higher speed than the 50mm, and I was followed the instruction to mod the Dell Mini 9 to fit the 70mm one so actually the screw base for the 50mm is not there anymore, so if i want to use the 50mm I think I will need to duck tape the SSD... =(

Hi guys, do you know any 70mm SSD drive out there can be used for dell mini 9? I cannot find the one I saw in the 70mm runcore ssd drive modding clip anymore?

Thats because I remove the screw bases already, do you think i still can use the 50mm ssd drive with a string go through all 4 holes to keep the drive in place?

Thanks =)

There used to be one for an older Asus Eee model - someone here modified his 9 to use it - but a quick search doesn't turn up anything.

Contact mydigitaldiscount Chris. The ASUS accepted either PATA or SATA so some of the original drives were PATA. They may still have some stock left. Or use the ducktape method.
