My original Mini 9 is over a year old at this point and has seen some cool adventures, not the least of which were some hacks and attempts at hacks.
(Including my internal USB port/connector hack)
At this point the display is starting to act flaky (random white screens until you smack it) and the keyboard has partially failed in an infuriatingly sporadic way.
It had a great run but has been retired from active use.
I bought a backup Mini 9 a few months back when Dell was clearing 'em out cheap and have switched over to it, but that leaves me with an otherwise (kinda) functioning Mini 9 that now needs a new mission.
My idea is to convert it into a "nettop" or "set-top media box" of sorts that I'll hang behind our 24" LCD TV in the bedroom to surf on or access the media on our home server.
I'd be removing the lid and keyboard entirely to allow for heat dissipation and developing a mount to hang it behind the TV.
The idea is to use a media center dashboard with a BT
remote or even an app for my phone to do the same if I can manage it.
It's been a while since I contributed a hack, and it's likely the last significant Mini 9 action you see out of me anyway!
I don't really see any major roadblocks to this plan other than finding some place to re-mount the WiFi antennas after the lid has been removed.
(I was thinking of locating them in the soon-to-be-open hinge spaces.)
Pics soonest of course.
