Yep, I'm talking OSX, too. Something weird must have happened with your install. IIRC (m9 not at hand right now), there was only one installer that placed some drivers somewhere, plus some applications in the applications folder (I remember TPMon, whatever that is for, and TouchKit).
For up-to-date drivers (maybe the CD version is not the latest) search the web for the "eGalax" site. If the Intel version to be found there fails try the PPC version (requires Rosetta from the Mac installation disk).
If you want/must go without calibration, at least you might trying to change the recognized screen orientation by inserting the flat ribbon cable the other way round into the connector. Given the physical layout it's probably better to turn the connector, not twist the (too delicate, IMO) cable.
