Default Is this ram suitable? - 01-06-2010, 02:48 PM

My mini 9 came with -
hynix 1gb 2RX16 PC2-6400S-666-12

is this a suitable upgrade - hynix 2gb 2RX8 PC2-6400S-666-12

sorry to ask but I know nothing about these things.

the above 2gb is £25 delivered but a lexar crucial is £39 so I was not sure if the cheaper hynix was just as suitable.

DDR2-800 and/or PC2-6400 (same difference) is what you need to look for, doesn't have to be same brand. Also make sure it is 200pin/laptop memory.
Cheaper stuff works fine, I didn't use anything expensive in mine.

Hynix is fine. Actually, the Mini 9 can use PC2-4200 (DDR2-533) or higher, though nowadays it's harder to find the slower memory. Faster memory will run at the slower speed.

That model should be compatible. No guarantee you won't get a dud, though.

How 'bout this one?
eBay seller I've used before.

Or, if it will, are there less-expensive alternatives?
TIA....

That should work - the price is slightly less than what I see on Newegg or Amazon. Personally, I'd prefer to buy a name brand.
