Default New Seagate HDD fit in M9? - 12-14-2009, 01:45 PM

Looking at Engadget and saw that Seagate is coming out with this new super small HDD. will this fit in the m9? 1.8in drive?

Nope. Mini 9 doesn't use a mechanical drive.

That's a standard 2.5" laptop SATA drive, like the 10/10v uses, just a little thinner than usual. So, it won't work in a Mini 9.

it's not pata. if it were pata you could theoretically shoehorn one in. i had an ipod hdd in my girlfriends mini 9 but it was a tonne of work cutting and a pain in the ass to get a cable long enough to fit it and it was really slow. ended up getting her a runcore.

You'd also have to rig up an adapter that converted the Mini 9's unique pinout of the MiniPCIe to the 2.5" (or 1.8") PATA plug.
