Default Dell Mini Tablet Overheating. - 12-10-2009, 06:26 PM

Right, as my previoud posts stae, im part way through making a dell mini9 tablet. Pics will be posted as soon as its complete.

Right now, Speed Fan is reading Tempretures in the 70 degress region. Is that the norm for the Mini? Cause Im not blocking any heat from escpaing, but yeah, it seems like a very high number.

I think it's not uncommon for the Mini 9's CPU to hit 70 degrees C under heavy use. But I don't know that my Mini 9 has ever actually hit 70.

My tablet idles at 35ish Celsius, and gets up to 60ish if playing a hulu video. That point is when it starts to throttle back and the video suffers. This is with the screen directly over the heatsink.

I've given up on trying to watch flash video on old atom netbooks.

Someone said awhile back that Dell designed the Mini so that head could vent through the keyboard.

Unless you're changing how heat dissipates, a tablet mod is going to trap heat.
