Touchscreen Overlay / Film - 12-09-2009, 02:46 PM
I am a bit intimidated by replacing the screen in my Mini 9. I found a touch overlay (DealExtreme: $53.52 Wide 8.9" USB Touch Screen Film (Makes LCD Screens Touch Sensitive)) that only needs to be plugged into one usb port. I don't mind loosing the usb connection.
Has anyone tried this? Any advice? Thanks!

I purchased this one from DX:
DealExtreme: $48.20 9" USB Touch Screen Digitizer DIY Mod Kit for Asus Eee PC 900 UMPC Laptops
It has a standard USB wire with it that can be plugged in externally, but it's really not made for that - the wire isn't protected in any way, but I suppose you could add your own heat-shrink tubing.
It also has connections for hooking up to an EEE-pc webcam port, that won't fit the Dell Mini. If you wanted to hard-wire this it requires soldering.
Saves a few dollars over the HODA screen though.
