Default Help on Hoda touch screen with Mini 9 with WWAN - 12-02-2009, 04:47 AM

I'm planning to get the touch screen from MDD, but most of the guides here assume that the WWAN space is not used. My Mini 9 came with the 5530 wireless broadband card (which I use all the time, so throwing it away is not an option). I'm currently looking at this thread, but truth be told I am not adept to hardware modifications such as rewiring and sanding off unnecessary parts. Is there some other space I can place the hub, or even an option of getting the touchscreen without the hub (which I assume will take much less space)?

The hub also holds the hardware to convert touchscreen signals to usb input. You can't go without.

I'm not sure if i remember correctly, but wasn't there a picture somewhere in this forums showing the hub and the WWAN card side by side?

the hub can fit in two places that aren't the WWAN:

where the bluetooth module lives or under the bottom plastic in the are where the backup battery is

check these two threads and you'll see the placements

More Space! (Relocating the touchscreen hub)

if you don't want to get that far into it. you could mount the hub/TS controller board in an external pod, like I placed my usb devices. you WILL need the small board for TS control, and the combined board that MDD sells, by HODA, is very small already.

hackintosh with solderless hub, TS, 4 usb, and mod pod on back

one other comment is that the hub/TS board in the bluetooth area does get a little warm in that spot. there isn't a lot of air movement on the top side of the motherboard.

Thanks for the advice guys. I might go the accelerometer way and try to stick it on the base.
