Well, the RAM upgrade should not really count.
Since I sleep with my mini, I was really annoyed by the white LED constantly being on. And even worse, when in standby, it flashes which makes my room to look like in a bad movie at night.
So I removed the palm rest, put some electrical tape onto the left LED, and closed it again. Now I have no more annoying LED light.
While this is by no means a complex mod, it is an effective customization which makes my dell mini even more enjoyable
I hope that there will be a hybrid WLAN/WWAN on the market next year which would solve the wan issue.
BTW, those mini's which don't come with WWAN don't have the SIM socket soldered as well. Though tethering should be the better alternative since that uses a single SIM card.
Tomorow I'll get a Terratec Cinergy HTC USB XS HD TV receiver. Even though I'm more than sure that HDTV won't be viewable, I hope that SDTV will be working. That card has DVB-T AND DVB-C (!) support, analog TV and analog as well as digital Radio support. Wish me luck! I'll get back to you tomorrow as soon as I know if it works, since Terratec says that a 2.0 GHz proc is required for SDTV.
Until now I've been using Zattoo to watch TV on the Mini.
My Taskbar is docked to the right side instead of the default bottom side. I've used it that way for a week now and that seems to be a very good way to gain important vertical screen estate. THAT's my tip for you, try it.
