Default If I buy a UK Keyboard and run Snow Leopard, is it possible to remap the pound key? - 11-28-2009, 11:46 AM

Sorry for the long subject name, but wasn't sure how else to word the subject!!

I have done a search already, couldn't find a solution.. so here's the questions I'm dying to know...

If I run a Dell Mini 9 w/Snow Leopard & US Keyboard, and decide to install a UK Keyboard:
1) How do i remap the pound key to put a $ sign onscreen?
2) Are there any special combinations I need to type in to get the Mini 9 to recognise the keyboard like in this post ...
(Replacement Keyboard more normal (US-Intl))

Thanks in advance!!

If you bought a UK keyboard the Mini is going to want to send a pound character there, assuming you set the right map. (Setting the US map will likely result in other errors.)

Ask in the OS X sections about remapping at the OS level.

Oh the US version of the keyboard, you can remap keys at the OS level using the keyboard setup.

Isn't the $ at <shift>-4?

If you want to type # (which Americans bizarrely call the pound sign), in SL, use <alt>-3 as <shift>-3 gives you the £. (Assuming SL with a UK physical keyboard and UK keyboard layout).
