Can't wait to see the finished tablets. I'm definitely liking the slim look.

Also, thanks for the accelerometer guide! I found some homemade accelerometer projects, but never got around to figuring out how to get it all to work together. Now, with your guide, all the software and hardware is right there!

Windows7 is definitely a much better OS for tablets. They've just had more practice, starting with XP Tablet Edition.

Thanks Rob! I hope the guide works out for you. I haven't had any feedback yet, but am really looking forward to it.

I love the slim look as well, I just have no plastic molding skills. Can't wait to see how nevon mod comes out.

Default Where's the power button? - 12-24-2009, 09:40 PM

This is great stuff - I'm working on my own tablet idea right now - but I'm stumped...where's the power button....I saw what you did with the palm rest, etc, but how do you power on/off?

It's still in the original spot, under the lid! I just lift it up to power on. Most of the time, the table has the lid lifted anyway, to be in a sort of "display mode" as seen the the "How to add accelerometer" video I made.

that's what I was thinking - thanks for confirming, I gave a similar go at re-wiring, but got a little intimidated and have gone back to the usual install, but nice to know this can be done...also the open spot for the controller is excellent - a bit too hot for me though. Anyway - thanks for the reply

No problem I actually have not had a problem with heat, thank goodness. Mine will be going on eBay soon in preparation for a new project. This board is very inspiring...

This is amazing. Would this be a possible project for the 10v?.. I'd be feeling adventurous if I saw a proof of concept.

Seems like this is my rainy day project I've been saving up for, best friend thinks I'm crazy... got a mini 9 on ebay for a steal with a 32gb ssd, gonna poach one of my 2GB sticks from my Inspiron 1318 (4gigs is overkill when my page is 8gigs), already ordered the motion controller for $19.99 and the touch kit from Fidohub on eBay too... looking to include my old APC biopod biometric scanner (cuz of the keyboard-free idea) and including an acrylic "sub-frame" between the two halves to fill the gap when i remove the palmrest and to secure a heatsink fan i "acquired" from a dead sony VAIO to dissipate the heat and control it how this guy did his Backlit Keyboard Mod to trigger the fan using the Ctrl key instead of the LED -http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell-mini-9-hardware-upgrades/17821-keyboard-illumination-led-modification-pics.html- Let you know how my sleepless nights go soon as the Mini and touch screen get here... aint waitin a b!tch..

.... close your eyes and see, when there ain't no light
