Default question about power socket - 10-17-2009, 10:28 PM

hi i have a dell mini 9 and when i'm using it if i move it with the charger plugged in it constantly switches between battery and mains and if i use it with no battery when i move it it shuts off i took it apart and the power socket is plugged into the board so does anyone know where to get one from

Im pretty sure its a fairly Generic power socket, but how are you going to get it off the board? You may need to un-solder it and solder in the new one (LOTS OF WORK) and If you screw something up you may lose part of your board :|

its not soldered to the board its on a wire that plugs in to the board so its easy to replace just dont know where to get one from

Although I was amazed to see that its plugged into the board and not soldered!!!

Wow, I just ordered a 9 and I'll have to check that out. If so that's a first that I know of, being a plug in, not solder on connector. Good thinking on Dell's part!
I've replaced several charge ports on laptops, I get them off Ebay at a fraction of buying them at any online site, let alone from the manufacturer.
