That was my first question. The Mini 9 was designed to vent alot of heat up through the keyboard during operation.

man that's pretty awesome!!
how well does it respond to the pen?
how is the included driver software??(likes/dislikes/bugs??)
does it register inputs using your finger or just the pen?

are most tablets done this way with a seperate touch screen and display screen or are they one unit?

It does run a little hot... in the 40-50deg C range according to Coretemp, though occasionally it goes into the upper 50s. I originally had plans to add vents to the sides, but I haven't figured out how to make them really usable yet. I probably will add a small USB powered fan cause there is a place to vent it above the battery. This was actually my #1 concern when building this... I've had Coretemp running constantly in the taskbar.

The pen response is pretty good, though I can see why single-point resistive touch screens are not the future. Luckily, the screen is small enough that you can keep your palm off the screen for the most part.

It's basically the Fun and Easy touchscreen kit, so all the reviews pertaining to that kit apply to this one as well. Plus Windows 7 really makes it a lot easier to have a computer running soley on touch.

Basically, it was a fun little project, but the Archos 9 is definately a more polished product, though it does cost more than this

I'm sorry I didn't say it in my original comment, but yes it IS an incredibly cool mod you've done!

I've shown a couple people this post to give them an example of some hard-core modding. Great pics!

Wow, this mod is amazing! I kinda wish I hadn't sold my Mini 9 :-(, I would have totally done something like this...

Depending on what kind of netbook I get next, I might take on something like this. If it's a Mini 10v, I'll wait until the warranty expires, then do this.

(Waiting on a Mini 10v with Ion!)

Sold my Mini 9 for a larger netbook, one that's easier on my wrists and hands.
Current Machine: 2010 MacBook Pro 13", 2.4 GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, Win7 Pro x64/OS X 10.6.3

And I play with my girlfriend's Mini 10v ^_^.

Interested in using MATLAB on the Mini 10v? Check out my benchmarks!

That is absolutely amazing. I hadn't even thought of doing that.

Very nice work.
