Default What size SSD Upgrade for Win7? - 09-21-2009, 07:54 AM

Hi,

I have a stock Mini9 with an 8GB SSD that came with Ubuntu. I've managed to get a cut-down version of Windows 7 on it, with just under 1GB free. Now I've loaded other software I want to use (iTunes, Skype, Windows Live), I'm down to just under 500MB free.

I've ordered a licenced copy of Windows 7 which will be out soon and I'd like to install the full system, so I need to upgrade the SSD - possibly with a Runcore (unless there are better options these days).

Question is, what size of SSD to go for to avoid me running tight again. Will 16GB be sufficient or do I need to go to 64GB.

Also, where is the best place to buy Runcore in the UK?

I'm running Win7 Ultimate with a 32GB SSD and it's got plenty of extra space.
I haven't done a thing to make it smaller.

I think the common philosophy on this stuff is that you will never decrease your need for space, so always get the biggest one you can afford.

I opted for the Super Talent 16GB 80/40MB/sec SSD. that should be enough for my needs since I won't have much loaded on the machine. media files can be accessed by an SD card or USB stick. $45 shipped from ewiz.

I currently have the 8GB SSD with Win 7 Professional and have 1.19GB free with 2 small programs loaded.
