Default USB Power and Signal though different ports? - 09-17-2009, 02:56 PM

Is it possible to attach a USB device to two different buses, one for D+/D- and one for VCC/ground? Reason I ask is I'm thinking about routing the Bluetooth through a permanent bus (webcam port, via Hoda touchscreen hub) to get Bluetooth AND sleep with OS X.

Related: Does anybody know wheter a USB hub exist that runs on (and provides) 3.3V power? That would allow me to add another 3.3V device to the chain. All I could find was a controller, but building a hub around it would be waaaaaaay over my capabilities.

Or is there a simple way to cap voltage at 3.3v -- something small to go between a regular 5v port/hub and a 3.3v device?

Thanks for input!
