Default Proper RAM speed - 09-07-2009, 07:37 PM

I ordered a Vostro A90 from the Dell Outlet over the weekend, and I'm trying to discern what RAM speed I should be getting. The stock RAM is DDR2 533, but I've seen many people getting DDR2 800. Is there any benefit is getting the faster rated RAM? Thanks.

Nope, the clock speed is locked, and the RAM will downshift appropriately. Dell is including 800 in later builds because it's cheaper for them to.

Not just later builds - they have shipped with PC2-6400 (800MHz) RAM from the start. It's cheaper as they get it by the boatload.
