Default Broke power button cable!!!! - 08-23-2009, 05:44 PM

So I was taking apart my mini9 again, this time the cable that connects the power button to the mainboard ripped.... literally I was wondering if anyone knew the dell part number for a new powerbutton, or a solution

Default I did the same thing. - 08-24-2009, 04:32 PM

I missed that cable as well. I called Dell parts, told them what I needed (referenced in the service manual for them) and they shipped me a new one (cable and board) within a week. The board is held down by 2 screws, takes about 1 minute to replace and you are up and running again.

What are the symptoms if that piece (D169H) fails?

the whole power button thingy does nothing but connect two of the four leads from the connector (you can actually start the mini by shorting those leads on the connector). If the part fails to connect them, the mini won't get the "boot now" message, and if it is permanently connecting, the mini will reboot over and over because it's getting it all the time.
