I'm trying to use VGA out to a off-brand 19" LCD tv, but the native resolution (1440x900) isn't available. Some of the other widescreen resolutions can be selected, but they don't display properly (squished over to one side of the screen, and such).
- Disabling the check box to hide unsupported resolutions
- Changing the monitor driver from "generic PnP" to miscellaneous widecreen monitor drivers I found online
- Updating the intel GMA drivers (intel's site has a driver that specifcally adresses this problem, but it's the same driver that ships with the computer, and the problem persists)
- Making a custom monitor driver with powerstrip
Im currently running Win7, but I had the same issue with XP.
I can get 800x600 and 1024x768 to fill the screen, but the stretched aspect bugs me. :P
Any ideas I could try next would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
FWIW, I just tried it with a Sharp 46" LCD and there's a similar problem, where only 4:3 resolutions are supported. Originally I was thinking my problem was with bad EDID from the crappy TV, but now I'm not too sure....
