Default Is my SSD slower than it should be? - 05-10-2009, 10:07 PM

I just received a Dell Refurb 8gb WinXP (Vodafone) Dell Mini 9. All going good so far, but I am planning on installing OSX.

However, while preparing for it, I've noticed it seems to be really slow on writing. I had an EEE 901 previosuly and Im sure it was not this slow. For example, extracting syslinux took 5 minutes!

Or perhaps its not the SSD, perhaps its some other issue?

Having said that, booting up to XP is pretty quick and everything seems to run quick once its loaded. Worried that if it takes this long for small things how long an OSX install will take!

Any help or reassurance appreciated - thanks

Perhaps you want to run a ATTO Benchmark to see how it performance with other peoples result? My STEC 16gb SSD writes at 20mb/sec and reads at 60mb/sec.
