I seem to be having AC power problems and am not sure where the trouble is. Received my refurbished Dell Mini 9 via FedEx today and figured I'd plug it in to charge the battery. I don't recall seeing anything lit before I opened the lid, but I would expect the white LED on the front left to be lit whenever the AC power is plugged in.
When configuring the laptop I remember seeing the white LED was ON. However, later, I noticed the white LED was OFF even though AC adaptor was connected and (yes!) plugged in, and the amber (battery low) light was on or flashing, just before the system shut down.
When I press the power button, the White and then the amber LEDs briefly light up and go dark. It's as if the AC adaptor isn't supplying power at all.
Addendum: The power supply from Dell/FSP Group says 19V 1.58A (1.58V Max).
I have a couple of Compaq laptop power supplies that say 18.5V 2.7A.
The Compaq unit appears to work, and the battery is charging. I tried the Dell/FSP unit plugged into several power outlets, and it fails to light the white LED, which appears to be lit when power is applied (as expected) rather than just when the Mini 9 is powered on.
Now, how to get Dell to replace the defunct AC power adaptor!
