Default Screen flicker/shimmer - 09-28-2008, 09:16 AM

Has anyone noticed the screen of the Dell Mini 9 flickering or shimmering on high contrast areas when the system is not on maximum brightness. Since it was delivered last week the screen has been doing this. A quick search on Google has shown this happens on MacBooks with LED backlit screens. If you put your brightness to minimum and display the image on the link below you may see what I mean ...

On my screen it looks like waves going up the screen. The Dell support system says my machine wasn't purchased in the UK, although it was, so I cannot access online support. I will try calling them next week if this is abnormal. Would be nice to save a bit of battery life by not having the screen on maximum brightness the whole time.

My system is the standard UK spec - Windows XP Home, 16gb SSD, Bluetooth.

Thanks for any comments on this.
