I'm currently running windows xp on mini. I don't know if this is important, but it did originally come with ubuntu... I can't go mobile with my mini ![]() |

I played with and the battery was down to about 30% so I plugged in the unit and I had all kinds of flashing issues... the screen would go dim then light back up then go dim... along with some popping sounds. I figured I my wall was giving me dirty stream of power. So I plugged it into my UPS, problem solved... except it wouldn't charge or run off the ac. I tried three others (yes I have that many UPS laying around)... all had the same problem. Plugged it directly into the wall at those three locations 2 of them failed to do a thing. ** Slightly off topic ** Today I made the same rounds and had the same results. Almost that one working outlet didn't work today, I don't know it and tried to flash my bios (mine shipped with AO0). The system died, contacted support they had me do all kinds of things. Finally they said they will send out a box for repair and requested my info... sure no problem... but wait the Mini I purchased off the dell website isn't registered to me and I was sent to some online transfer forum to transfer it... Enter original own info --> new owner info. Umm excuse me isn't the information go to be the same? Yes, I kept explaining that small bit of information... only to hear sorry I can't do anything else until you are set as the owner?!? I was then advise to contact who I purchased the computer from, dell.com, to resolve this issue. I restated I purchased the computer from dell.com, you know basically your website. Oh, please wait 3-4 business days as the system my be out of sync. So if I wait 3-4 business days, plus the 2 business days receive the box (2 days back), plus 7-10 business days for repair... and another 2 days from the repair center to me.. I should have my computer back in a month ![]() ** End off topic ** After all that I was getting hungry so I had dinner, and returned to find my laptop in its same state. Unplugged, battery out. So I plugged the system system back in and hoped it might start... no luck. Put the battery back in and wait the power light brightens. Hmm what if I press power? Wait, is that, yes that is the boot screen. Hey looks its recharging... plugged into that same "dirty" outlet. However once it reached 12% charged it gave up. While holding down Fn+B reconnect the power adapter, the front panel lights should flicker momentarily. Release Fn+B then press the Mini's power button. The Mini should beep once then do nothing. Disconnect the power adapter, disconnect and reconnect the battery then reconnect the power adapter. Turn the Mini back on and after booting into the OS confirm that the battery is now charging. If not on BIOS A03, it is also recommended to flash up to this latest BIOS: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/bios-up ... t1063.html Please report back if you are able to correct your non-charging issue! |

Guess there may be some dead batts causing it too? |
