I have just received my Mini 9 and I want to replace the pre-installed Ubuntu with an alternative Linux distro. However I am running into problems.
I previously owned a Eee 701 and had bought a cheap USB cdrom (does not support DVD only CD, cost £14.99) from Ebay. On the Eee I was able to boot from the USB cdrom and install what ever distro I want. However on the Mini 9 I can not do so.
When the machine boots it completely ignores the cdrom drive. I have tried pressing 0 during the initial boot and selected each option. However it always seem to miss the cdrom drive and boots from the built in SSD
The drive does function because on my main laptop I can boot from the drive. Also when Ubuntu is up and running it recognizes the cdrom drive and I can use it correctly.
So my problem only seems to occur during boot.
Sadly I do not have another usb cdrom drive to use, nor do I have access to one. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be and how to resolve it?
