Default My mini 9 is giving error code beeps. Any idea what they mean?? - 02-11-2013, 03:45 AM

Laptop screen is dark and unit doesn't post anything.
It's weird, I've tried several different sticks of memory.
With some memory it does this code. 2 beeps, then 1 beep, then 1 beep.
With other memory it does this code. 1 beep, then 4 beeps, then 3 beeps.
Sometimes the screen flashes white for a split second before the beeps.

Tried changing keyboard. SSD drive. WiFi card (just in case). With and without battery.
Only thing I haven't tried yet is removing CMOS battery.

Any ideas??????

Did you change the RAM just before it failed? Check to be sure your RAM is fully seated in the slot. It is also possible that the CMOS battery needs to be replaced. While my Mini 9 is on every day I have not opened it up for a long time. I think that battery is pretty well buried in there.

What is the exact brand and model of memory you are trying? Have any of these worked for you before?

I don't think a dead CMOS battery would cause this problem.

Google "Dell Beep Codes" to see what the codes mean.

Looks like a memory problem, or a bad MOBO. Sorry.
