I would not trust that display. For best results, look at the boot screen or go into the BIOS and see what it says.

XP SP2, eh? Dell didn't sell it that way - it came with SP3.

Hi Chaoscris,

My Name is Nischith and I work for Social Media and Community Team at Dell.

Regarding the BIOS upgrade you can go ahead and update it to the latest A07 version.

NOTE: Shut down all other applications prior to running the BIOS update utility. The update utility reboots your system in order to get the new BIOS loaded. Also ensure AC adapter is plugged in and Battery is at least 40 % charged.

Please use the below link to download the BIOS upgrade file,

Dttp://, Replace "D" with H and paste it on browser search window to download the file.

Follow the below steps to upgrade the BIOS,

Click Download now.
2. The File Download window appears.
3. Click the Save button.
4. The Save As window appears.
5. Select Desktop using the drop-down menu to the right of Save in.
6. Click the Save button.
7. A progress meter moves as the download is completed.
8. If necessary, click X in the upper right-hand corner of the Download Progress Window to close it upon completion.
9. Double click the Icon on your desktop labeled QHA07_Win.exe.
10. The Dell Bios Flash window appears
11. Click the Continue button.
12. The message Pressing OK will close all applications, shut down Windows, Flash the BIOS, then reboot. appears.
13. Click the OK button.
14. The system will restart and the Bios Flash will be completed.
