Default Poor Quality Sound - 01-15-2012, 07:12 PM

New guy here. My wife has had a mini for a year or so and I finally got my own. Kind of a nice thing, not so much heat on my lap and I'm getting used to it pretty quick. I had to load up the touch pad software and that's really helped stop the cursor jump issue. I can type now without shutting whole pages off....

But I can't seem to fix the sound issue. I have sound. Its just garbled and distorted. It comes out of the speakers and over the head phone like that. Like a bad radio. I do listen to music a lot and when I first got the mini, I don't believe it was an issue but I could be wrong. I've reloaded the Realtek driver but it didn't help.

Any more ideas? Thanks for your help all. Except for the sound, this thing is pretty convenient and cool.

Frank

Frank, welcome to the forum. Which model Mini do you have? Which OS are you running?

You might check to see if there's any "sound field" software installed. My uncle complained of garbled sound from his PC and I found there was some Realtek sound effect software that had enabled "Stadium" mode. Once I turned that off, all was fine.

Well, thanks for you help. I think I got it. It was Realtek. Karaoki was on so voice was being canceled. Bummer but thanks for your help. Not sure if its perfect but its a good start.

Thanks again - frank

external speakers are usually the best choice, all of the Mini's tend to have marginal sound regardless of what drivers are loaded....they aint boom boxes of course but I find with external speakers at least its bearable.....only at home use of course, traveling I would recommend a slim compact soundbar...they really sound pretty good
