My dell mini has 512mb ram
with 8gb SSD

I powered it up and it gave me no operating system error.

I installed windows boot cd (external drive) and went to repair.

every time i tried to repair or re install the os it gave me the could not install error.

I have no option to format the drive or anything.

I have a hirens boot usb and tried that.

I am running the mini xp on hirens and when i go to disk manager it says disk 0 6.89gb is online but not initialized. the drive is unallocated.

I went to cmd prompt and tried DISKPART
LIST DISK
the disk 0 shows as online and 7052mb free
I then SELECT DISK )
CLEAN ALL
then CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
with unable to create specified partition

DETAIL DISK shows
IS861BOOT 12/07/07V3
Disk ID: 00000000
type : IDE
bus :0
target :0
lun id : 0

there are no volumes.

I dont know how to initialize the disk. it shows it is online but i dont know where to go from here.

when i try to partition I get error.

Grab something like Seatools and test the SSD. I know mine would pass for the first 10% or so then error out for the remainder. These SSDs are prone to failure so I suspect it's simply died and will need to be replaced.

wow! Thanks for the assistance.

Ive downloaded the dell diagnostics and it runs great untill the hd tests. keeps getting error. and says update fw. ive updated to a07 with no luck. the error is a cable, board error. Im thinking its the card...


still hoping for a bone
