Default New ssd windows 7 install help - 09-22-2011, 11:50 PM

Im pretty new to the mini computers. I have a dell mini 9 and i just bought a brand new runcore 32gb 50mm ssd. I put it in the computer and go to install a fresh copy of windows 7 which i have done hundreds of time to other computers. I go to delete all the partitions and after i attempt to the drive disapears and says no installed hdd drivers. So i pull it out and try it again. It does the same thing. I also tried it with a windows vista disk and does the same thing. It is visable in the bios before i try to delete the partitions. So after messing with it for a while i decide to try and just install windows 7 on the already partitioned ssd. And it gets to about the 10% mark of extracting data and it says Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available. I have tried multiple copies of burned dvd's from iso's. I havent tried putting the iso on a usb drive yet but i guess ill try that next.

I have installed Win7 on my Mini 9 several times. Very odd behavior you are seeing - I would guess that the SSD is bad.

I bought it brand new from amazon

---------- Post added at 01:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:26 AM ----------

I redownloaded and burned a new iso image of win 7 sp1 to a dvd and keep getting stop codes right b4 it enters setup.

stop: 0x0000007e (0xc0000420, 0x840c743f, 0x85ec8690)

acpi.sys address 840c743f base at 840a8000, datestamp 4ce78f21

I retried my other disk and it didnt blue screen so obv their was a prob with the win 7 sp1 copy

So basically the only problem i have now is that at 33% or so of extracting win 7 installation it errors.
Maybe dvd reader is the problem?

Maybe. Make sure the DVD reader is powered independently and not relying on the Mini 9's USB port. If you must use the Mini 9 port, pick the one closest to the power jack.
