Recently changed out the screen on my Mini 910 with a cheap ebay unit. All went well but one day later during normal activity the unit froze up and the screen had two one inch wide vertical bars of complete visual corruption. Nothing responded and I held the power button until it shut down.
When I tried to restart it the power LED comes on, the screen stays black (no backlight) then there are two beeps with a long pause between and nothing else.
I swapped back the original broken Screen to see if there was a short in the new one and the new problem remained.
After some research I suspected this beep... beep meant ram error as this chart indicated. img.photobucket.com/albums/v504/F12Bwth2/Forums/dell_inspiron_910_beep_codes.png
But when I removed the ram to check if the beep would change it did. Now it was two beeps, pause, two beeps.. So That means what it was, was a single beep, twice.
So "BIOS ROM Checksum in progress or failure, BIOS Chip" seems to be the issue.
How does one go about resetting the bios on this netbook. I have no passwords installed so that isn't an issue. Is this a severe issue? Please Help!
