Was running XP on the stock STEC 16GB drive.
Turned it on to find no operating system found error.
BIOS sees the drives and reports the correct size. (Not Zero)
Windows XP installer cannot access the disk.
Windows disk management (from ubcd4win) doesn't see the drive at all.
Gparted (multiple versions from puppy, ubuntu, parted magic) all see the disk and correct size but cannot partition or do anything to it. It gives "error setting disklabel."
If it were showing 0 size in bios I would just chalk it up to a bad disk(controller), but it looks good so I feel like maybe it's a logical problem rather than a hardware problem.
So I'm hoping that someone smarter than me might have an idea or some things to try that I haven't thought of?
Update: Vista and Win 7 Installers also see the drive and correct size but both give errors trying to create new partition. And to clarify, everything that can see the drive sees it as all unused space.
